Series BOP High Power Interface Characteristics |
The BOP High Power switching power supplies support four communications protocols. The primary interface is the GPIB (IEEE 488.2) for MG and GL models and the LXI ethernet (LAN) for ME and EL models. The power supplies also support RS 232 at baud rates of 9.6, 19.2 and 38.4 Kilo baud rates. The RS 232 supports both XON-XOFF and CTS/RTS protocols. The RS 485, Kepco's single address, multiple instrument serial bus (IEEE 1118) allows the BOP High Power units to collect system readback data in series and parallel configurations. Up to five MG units may be paralleled to quintuple output current and up to three MG units may be connected in series to triple output voltage. Special configurations are also available for 2X2 (two parallel branches of two series-connected MG units) and 3X2 (two parallel branches of three series-connected MG units). The 2X2 configuration doubles both output voltage and current; the 3X2 configuration doubles output current and triples output voltage. The GPIB, LAN and serial interfaces use the SCPI language: (Standard Commands for Programmable Instruments). The BOP High Power units support the trigger system, including an external trigger input. They also support the LIST and Memory subsystems of the protocol. The SCPI interface is compatible with the BIT 4886 and BIT 802E cards (these cards provide GPIB and ethernet control, respectively, to standard low power (100W, 200W and 400W) BOP models) and supports separate positive and negative limits. CIIL language support is provided when using the GIPB port for compatibility with the Kepco MAT series and other MATE system instruments. The GPIB interface also supports IEEE 488.2 commands, which start with the (*)character.
