TLD communicates over the IEEE-488 bus, using the interactive CIIL language. It recognizes and responds to the following commands:
- FNC: Function
- CL: Close
- RST: Reset
- CFN: Confidence Test
- SET: Set
- OPN: Open
- IST: Internal Self Test
- STA: Status
- SRX: Set Maximum
- SRN: Set Minimum
TLD recognizes these nouns and noun modifiers:
- DCS: Direct Current Source
- CURR: Current
- VOLT: Voltage
- CURL: Current Limit
- VTLT: Voltage Limit
When TLD is "talk addressed" by the host computer over the GPIB, it can respond with an error message if for any reason it has been unable to comply with the instructions. Possible error messages are:
- Crowbarred
- Relay not open
- Overload
- Relay not closed
- Voltage comparison error
- Device not present
- Current comparison error
- Invalid command
- Voltage out of range
- No devices selected
- Current out of range
- Received incomplete message
