NEW BENCH POWER SUPPLY -- SERIES ABC
Long ago, one of Kepco's most successful instrumentation power products was a group called ABC. They were 20 watt linear power supplies with a single analog meter that could display either voltage or current. These were the first relatively low-cost bench power supplies in our industry and quickly spawned a host of imitators.
The new ABC is a "zero-up" switcher that is controllable all the way down to zero. The use of switch mode conversion brings a number of advantages to the instrumentation power supply user. Universal input, for one: No more worrying about selecting the correct a-c input when installing outside of the 115V a-c area. Lightweight, for another. No more "heavy metal" low-frequency magnetics. ABC's switch has a power factor corrector built in so it does not disturb other instruments nearby on the user's bench.
Model ABC 10-10DM
Kepco's new ABC is microprocessor controlled, taking setting instructions from a panel keypad or an external controller via the built-in GPIB port. The GPIB is not an add on, it is integral to ABC.
The new switch-mode ABC lab-bench supply features:
- Constant voltage/constant current operation
- Full range control from 0-max programmable from keypad or GPIB
- Very low output ripple and noise
- Fast response to programming signals
- Fast recovery from abrupt load changes
- Digital read back of output and status to panel LCD and to remote GPIB controller
VISA (Virtual Instrumentation Software Architecture) drivers are provided on disk with the ABC for users who want to integrate with Lab View, Lab Windows or other graphical interfaces for automatic test equipment.
